This break, I went camping with my friends and we enjoyed the pure wonders of nature. I also went kayaking and played a lot of soccer. When I wasn’t being outside, I was lounging like a fat cat or sleeping and ignoring all phone calls to do anything else (not that I’m some sort of super cool person that actually has to ignore an annoying amount of phone calls), and watched TV. Unfortunately enough though, I couldn’t enjoy my lounging experience at its full potential because my favorite shows like Gossip Girl weren’t running during the break and I never got around to renting Lord of The Rings.

1. Always use Firefox, never the blue “E”

2. The blue “E” stands for “evil”.

3. Pirates are good!!

4. Never use symbols other than letters, numbers, and underscores when naming a file.

5. Keep your files in folders, never just on the H drive.

6. Sort files by details when you’re looking for a specific one.

7. When opening a picture, to open it with a specific program, click File, Open, right click, and then open with the program you want to open it with.

8. Use a blog for either academic or personal purposes – it keeps things organized.

9. Power Point – not too many words, high contrast between text and background, don’t distort photos, use constant format, etc.

10. Napster – an illegal online filesharing community.

11. Torrents – illegal filesharing – allows one to download parts of a file.

12. When text editing, try using Google Dox.

13. We already know all the basic history that we need to know.

14. You can get really good jobs while you’re still in high school for fixing computers and whatnot. All you have to do is know the basics about hardware and/or software and take this test. If you pass it, you get pretty good job opportunities.

15. Use “BCC” when you want to send an email to other people without letting the main recipient know that you sent it to another person.

16. Use “CC” when you want to send an email to multiple other people but you don’t want them to reply to the main email.

17. Always include a subject line in an email.

18. Don’t send chain letters because they say cool things. They aren’t that fascinating.

19. Include contact information at the bottom of your email so the recipient can be sure on who to reply to.

20. When replying to a message that was sent out to multiple other people, instead of replying to all of them at once, reply to just the sender. Not everyone needs to know your response.

Three Recent Facts

Email Kwiz

1. Should. If a person doesn’t know what it is that they are reading, the may not even open the email.

2. Shouldn’t. If you do this then people’s personal email addresses will be sent all over the web and that makes them more vulnerable to spam.

3. Shouldn’t. Because most of those people don’t give a hoot.

4. Should. That way they can just look at the email as if they’re sitting in on a conversation and taking notes, not participating.

5. Shouldn’t. The whole point of you being under the “bcc” field is so that you can read the email without other people knowing it. If you respond, you’re a dumbass and everyone will know you’re in the chain.

6. Shouldn’t. If you do this, and the email gets forwarded to one million people then one million people that you don’t know will have your email address.

7. Shouldn’t. That’s annoying.

8. Shouldn’t. That’s annoying and something my 61 year old dad would do.

9. Shouldn’t. Cute puppies can make a day happier, but seriously, just send them to the people you KNOW want to see them. Spare the other people the unnecessary puke in their mouth.

10. Should. Otherwise, their emails will get spread around and that is no fun for them.

Kami Kami bite counter keeps your kid masticating

There is a new gadget that counts the number of chews a child takes while eating their food. Once the kid gets to 1000 chews a little jingle is played to celebrating their ability to successfully down their food in bits, not completley whole. It was made for kids that “eat their hamburgers whole”, so that they can learn to actually chew their food in a ‘fun’ way.
Honestly, I don’t really want to know what the next step is in the world of gadgets for children because it may be too strange to even imagine. The outcome of this new toy is obesity, an issue which the world is already struggling with, but the inventors sugar coat it with a BS excuse that it helps kid chew. What will help kids chew is the massive stomach pains they recieve when they are dense enough to eat a burger whole. This will effect me in the way that I may see a kid strapped to this invention and laugh.

Computer viruses

What is a computer virus? A computer virus is a self replicating program designed to modify a computer.

They can do so much damage and cost people so much money because they can mess with the computer so much to actually freeze it up and then take it up a level and send itself to other computers.

Too sexy for CO2? Try the Hermes smart for two

The same designers who brought the people the Bugatti Veyron have come out with a new car. It is called the Hermes smart fortwo. This new car isn’t much different than the older car, but on this new car the entire interior is lined with colorful tweed. The car was meant to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the smart car and it costs about 48,000 bucks.
I think the next step will be the design of even more stylish cars that are also good for the environment. This will effect my daily life because there will be more of a demand for these eco-friendly cars and therefore, hopefully, the world that I live in will be cleaner.

What has changed

A black man is president. That idea is still shocking to many Americans. Less than a century ago, African American citizens of the United States weren’t allowed to caste their vote because the color of their skin indicated that they simply weren’t equal. Now, the vote for President-Elect Barack Obama represents that all the peoples in America truly are equals. Obama stands as a symbol of hope and the amount of positive change that he will bring as the president of these United States in the next four years should be great.

In the next four years, I will be proud of my country. President George Bush has lost all international respect for America and all of his other many, many mistakes have led me to put up a personal barrier from believing in the hope of a country, or at least this one. Now, with the election of Barack Obama, who seems to believe that Americans shouldn’t fit an agenda in order to be called true Americans, has lifted a million pounds of cynicism off of my chest. In the next four years I think that I’ll follow politics heavily (yes, not only through the funny comics about the president) because Barack Obama stands as a reason to care.

Election

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=akQoT4lXVE9c&refer=home

This article is super interesting because it’s talking about how this 2 year long election is finally drawing to an end. Also, it’s exciting because the article talks about how Obama holds a 7 point lead and has taken states that before were Bush states, like Ohio and Virginia. Obama held a rally for Florida (you know the state that screwed over Gore) and it maxed out with 9,000 people. Today is election day, and America seems ready!

Desperate Obama fans barter for rally tickets-Obama supporters are willing to sell everything of theirs from massage therapy to math tutoring in order to see his VICTORY rally

Presidential Candidates, Supporters Make Final Push on Election Eve-McCain made a last minute stop to get supporters pumped. So did Hilary Clinton in order to boost up Obama people.

Voting Is Just The Half Of It: Obama supporters plan for Election Day-Obama supporters buy and sell pins, look for polls, as well as get ready to vote.

I think the news on the internet is a little bit more straight forward than the new in newspapers just because there are democratic and republican sites that can post more biased opinions in their articles than newspapers can that have to show a fair perspective.

Smoking Gun-

Confession Obsession-a woman pressed charges against her priest when he made sexual moves on her after hearing her confession of a shaky marriage. He apparently “professed his love” for her and said his actions were ordained by God.

Florida Boxer Rebellion Shows-people have been in trouble for having such unbelievably baggy pants.

Hi-Yo Silver And Away (To Jail)-a drunken man on Halloween spray painted silver was arrested after crashing his car.

Drudge Report:

Obama Mourns Grandmother on Election Eve-at his second to last rally, Obama announced his 86 year old grandmother who had helped raised him had passed peacefully in her street. Obama shed tears and McCain sent his thoughts and prayers from his own rally.

Can Obama Win Popular Vote But Lose Election?-Even though Sen. Barack Obama is way ahead in all recent national polls, Democrats fear that McCain could win the electoral vote and snag victory. That would suck.

Networks May Call Election Before Some Polls Close-If either Barack Obama or John McCain get 270 electoral votes before voting time is over, the election will be called. So that means that the West(more democratic side of country) may not be able to finish voting.

Huffington Post:

Obama Win Dixville , The First Place to Vote-Obama won in Dixville where the traditional Election Day ballots are used. In this town, no Democrat had won since 1968.

Over 1,000 Students Lined Up to Vote at Penn State-By 7 Am there was already a line of 1000 students ready to vote. This shows how historic this election is that so many young people are actually voting.

Election Day:McCain Campaigns in Hope of Upset-John McCain is pushing his old body to the limit rallying all across the country in hopes to try and beat the Democratic candidate Barack Obama.

NICE Car Co opens outlet in Europe’s newest, biggest mall

In London the biggest shopping center in Europe was recently opened. In in the “MyCar” is located. The mall’s so big that you can book a test drive. This car is all electric. Not only is the car stylish, it also has a positive effect on the environment.

What gas are you going to choose for your next car?

There is confusion when it comes to if a person should choose to fill their car up with natural gas (CNG) or petroleum gas (LPG). Driving with natural gas will save you half the price. A tip to remember is that if you drive less than 10,000 km a year, stick to alternative fuel options.

Azure Dynamics signs deal with Ford dealerships for hybrid trucks

A lot of ford workers think that the whole hybrid idea is just a publicity stunt but Azure Dynamics is still counting on Ford for hybrid help. 3 Ford dealerships are helping “hybra-tise” Azure Dynamic commercial trucks. In the future, they hope to get 30 Ford dealerships to help.
In 25 years cars will probably be extremely small because the new car talked about in my first summarized article looks just like the smart car, which is tiny, except a little bit smaller. Europe has always had small cars, but the Western World is just now embracing this trend. Cars will most likely use only alternate fuels like petroleum gas because for one, the world might just run out of oil in 25 years and also they are just environmentally more efficient. Cars will run better in 25 years hopefully.
